Kingaroy Police have again reminded residents to lock up their homes and cars – even when they are at home – after a spate of thefts in town.<\/p>\n

On Sunday night, thieves walked into homes in Lister Court and Macdiarmid Street.<\/p>\n

In Lister Street, entry was gained through a closed but unlocked door.<\/p>\n

The thieves stole\u00a0car keys from the kitchen.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was then pushed down the driveway before the offenders fled in it.<\/p>\n

In Macdiarmid Street, entry was also gained through a sliding door which was had been left open to allow access for pets.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, it also allowed a thief to come in.<\/p>\n

Keys and a red Suzuki Swift (registration 902-XAA) were stolen.<\/p>\n

In both incidents, the residents were home and asleep at the time the offences occurred.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Dave Tierney, said all residents needed to take responsibility for ensuring their property was secured to reduce the chances of opportunistic crimes occurring.<\/p>\n

The QPS have home security advice online<\/a><\/strong>, including tips on how to conduct a home security audit.<\/p>\n

On December 10, a black Falcon ute was vandalised while parked in Markwell Street, Kingaroy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

An implement was scraped down the driver\u2019s side at some time\u00a0between 8:00am and 5:45pm.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A 32-year-old Kingaroy man\u00a0\u00a0has been charged with a firearms offence after police executed a search warrant at a Harris Road address on December 11.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Police allegedly located a rifle and ammunition.<\/p>\n

He will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on January 14.<\/p>\n

On December 12, residents of a Roberta Street, Kingaroy, home were disturbed by two people attempting to force entry to a rear window about 10:00pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When disturbed, the offenders ran away.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Last Saturday, a white and blue Yamaha YZ250 trail bike was stolen from a Railway Terrace residence in Kingaroy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Offenders forced entry into a shed overnight and wheeled the motorcycle from the property.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The same day,\u00a0police were called to a grocery store in Youngman Street, Kingaroy, about 8:45am.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Store management believed a customer, a 44-year-old Blackbutt man, was trying to steal goods.<\/p>\n

When approached by management, the man became abusive and police were called.<\/p>\n

When the man refused to give his name to police he was arrested.<\/p>\n

He allegedly struggled with police and after being placed in a police van, caused wilful damage to the vehicle.<\/p>\n

He will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on January 21 charged with the stealing, two counts of obstructing police, two counts of wilful damage, assault and committing a public nuisance offence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
