South Burnett police officers – including the Kingaroy Road Policing Unit – will be out in force on local roads across the holiday break<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Christmas Road Safety campaign is just four days old but already Kingaroy police have charged three people with drink-driving.<\/p>\n

Another two will face charges of drug-driving.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant David Tierney, said the result was disappointing, especially taking into account the weather at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Since the Christmas Road Safety campaign kicked off, Kingaroy police have conducted 71 roadside breath tests.<\/p>\n

One driver, a 23-year-old Kingaroy man, was allegedly more than three times over the legal limit (0.152 BAC) when he was stopped by police on River Road on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

He will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on January 21 charged with drink driving, unlicensed driving and driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.<\/p>\n

Police also issued 15 tickets for life-endangering offences during the past four days, including seven speeding fines and five mobile phone-related infringements .<\/p>\n
