The Regional Australia Institute (RAI) plans to launch an inquiry in 2019 into Mid-Sized Towns, ie. Australian towns with populations between 10,000 and 50,000.<\/p>\n

CEO Jack Archer said the\u00a0project would examine the economies of these towns to assist governments to formulate policy.<\/p>\n

“We need a better understanding of this group of places to drive successful regional policy alongside regional cities and our rural and remote areas,” Mr Archer said.<\/p>\n

“The team and our Regional Research Connections partners are looking forward to working closely with towns around Australia on this project.”<\/p>\n

The RAI will also continue work begun this year on an inquiry into Regional Jobs.<\/p>\n

“Investigating jobs and technology changes, pathways into work, education and training, and the substantial regional job creation underway through the Healthcare and the NDIS are all in the plan,” Mr Archer said.<\/p>\n
