Sue Dowideit-Reiger sang some well-known Christmas carols at the start of the lunch to get everyone into the Christmas mood<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The annual South Burnett Mayor’s Christmas Charity Lunch attracted about 160 diners to the Kingaroy Town Hall on Friday, all eager to help the region’s disadvantaged.<\/p>\n

Guests paid $25 a head to enjoy a festive feast of roast chicken, ham and salad prepared and served by volunteers from local QCWA groups.<\/p>\n

Entertainment was provided by Sue Dowideit-Reiger, who sang some classic Christmas carols, and the Kingaroy State High School choir.<\/p>\n

Local businesses donated 23 raffle prizes to help add to the fundraising total from the lunch.<\/p>\n

Guest speaker was Sunshine Coast celebrity chef Matt Golinski, who has turned his life around following the tragic fire on Boxing Day 2011 in which his wife and three daughters died.<\/p>\n

At the time, Coroner Terry Ryan found the likely cause of the fire was a power board or Christmas tree lights.<\/p>\n

Funds raised from the lunch will be converted into SupaIGA food vouchers which will be distributed by local charity groups.<\/p>\n

Bookings are currently being taken for the free Salvation Army Community Lunch which will be held at SBcare on Christmas Day (December 25). Phone (07) 4162-9000 to book a seat.<\/p>\n

Nanango’s Boots’n Bulldust \/ Seeds of Hope community group is also taking bookings for their free Christmas Lunch, which will be held at the Nanango Cultural Centre on December 22.\u00a0 Phone Sandy Towell on 0423-830-224 to book.<\/p>\n
