The South Burnett Pantry will continue to provide hot meals and low-cost food to hundreds of people, thanks to a $20,000 Federal Government grant.<\/p>\n

Member for Maranoa David Littleproud announced the grant last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will be used by the South Burnett Pantry to purchase a secondhand truck and also expand their catering,” Mr Littleproud said.<\/p>\n

“The South Burnett Pantry has helped hundreds of people across our community for more than six years by providing low-cost food, affordable clothing and connecting people with welfare services.<\/p>\n

“Under the funding guidelines, projects had to deliver community benefits and the South Burnett Pantry\u2019s vision will provide the community with food aid and other support services.<\/p>\n

“The Pantry also offers free breakfasts at almost every school in South Burnett \u2013 providing sustenance and nutrition to maximise learning.”<\/p>\n

Mr Littleproud announced the Stronger Communities Program was open for applications in August.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said he was overwhelmed by the calibre and array of projects nominated for funding.<\/p>\n

All Federal electorates, including Maranoa, were allocated $150,000 under the program, with up to 20 projects being able to be funded.<\/p>\n

An independent assessment panel reviewed all funding applications and successful projects were then invited to progress to the next phase, where projects were reviewed by the Industry Department for final approval. <\/p>\n

The grant is the second the South Burnett has received from the program.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week Mr Littlepoud announced Nanango Little Athletics had received a $10,000 grant from the Stronger Communities Program to help them build a long jump pit and grandstand at Nanango State High School. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
