November 28, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n

Urban and rural fire crews were called to a grass fire burning close to buildings at Memerambi on Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to the scene about about 12:40pm on a property near the intersection of Oil Seeds Road and Memerambi-Cemetery Road.<\/p>\n

At 1:05pm, QFES issued an ADVICE warning to local residents when the fire, whipped up by strong winds, started travelling east.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy urban trucks and rural firefighters from Wattle Camp and Stuart River brigades, quickly brought the fire under control.<\/p>\n

All crews had left the scene by 3:50pm.<\/p>\n

Also on Wednesday afternoon, firefighters were called to a grass fire at Ficks Crossing, burning near the Bunya Highway and Kangaroo Yard Road.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At 1:00pm, there were two crews at the incident.<\/p>\n

This fire was under control and handed back to the property owner about 3:30pm.<\/p>\n

At 2:30pm, four fire crews were called to a fire burning near Shellytop Road at Durong.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At 3:30pm, firefighters were called to Old Esk North Road and Whitaker Road at South East Nanango after reports of a fire.<\/p>\n

A fire was also reported during Wednesday afternoon near Cooyar-Rangemore Road at Cooyar.<\/p>\n

A reminder that there is a Local Fire Ban in place for the South Burnett, Gympie, Toowoomba and North Burnett council areas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Avoid using any machinery or tools that may cause a fire.<\/p>\n

In these conditions, any fire that starts will be fast moving and unpredictable.<\/p>\n
