The foyer of Kingaroy Police Station now boasts a new piece of artwork, courtesy of some of the South Burnett’s youngest budding artists.<\/p>\n

Constable Connor Anderson, ably helped by her daughter Rose, 3, unveiled the collage on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant David Tierney, bought the artwork at a charity auction held earlier this year during Child Protection Week.<\/p>\n

“I was looking at the piece done by the kids from the Goodstart kindy about what makes them feel safe, and the penny finally dropped that it was about one of my officers,” he said.<\/p>\n

The pre-kindy children from the Goodstart Early Learning Centre in Kingaroy had painted the centre’s Adopt-a-Cop, Constable Anderson.<\/p>\n

A poster under the artwork explains what happened:<\/p>\n

“The children were asked: ‘What do you know about being and feeling safe?’<\/p>\n

“When one of them mentioned the Police, the conversation turned to our Adopt-a-Cop, Constable Connor.<\/p>\n

“We then asked the children what they thought Constable Connor did.”<\/p>\n

Their thoughts and feelings were included in the artwork.<\/p>\n

“The children all did different parts of the drawing, painting and collage.<\/p>\n

“We talked about the things we needed to include, and the children thought a torch and a police car.”<\/p>\n
