A gap in the South Burnett’s retail business scene was filled on Monday with the re-opening of a bulk supply business to private shoppers.<\/p>\n

The former Gympie Cooloola Food Service closed its Kingaroy outlet four years ago but continued operating in Gympie.<\/p>\n

In May 2017, new owners came on board, changing the name – to Cooloola Food Service – and adopting a new logo.<\/p>\n

They have no association with the former business.<\/p>\n

General Manager Michelle Munn said the new-look business had a “soft” re-opening of its Kingaroy outlet in July, dealing only with commercial customers.<\/p>\n

However, on Monday the Kingaroy outlet opened its doors to regular shoppers for the first time who will now be able to make bulk purchases from the business.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Initially, the public will be able to buy items from Cooloola Food Service’s premises at Unit 3, 12 Kingaroy Street (ie. where GCF was before it closed) for just one hour a day – between 1:00pm and 2:00pm.<\/p>\n

“Depending on the clientele, we may expand this operation,” Michelle said.<\/p>\n

The local store manager is Bruce Garvey, who has moved to Kingaroy with his wife and three children.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Items stocked include frozen and chilled foods, dry goods, cleaning supplies, packaging and disposable items such as plastic plates, cups and cutlery.<\/p>\n

“The range is growing every day,” Bruce said.<\/p>\n

The size of the bulk purchase depends on the product.<\/p>\n

Michelle and Bruce hosted an “open day” in the Kingaroy Town Hall Reception Room on Saturday to re-introduce shoppers to the types of products they have on sale.<\/p>\n

There were lots of people browsing the displays and enjoying taste samples when southburnett.com.au<\/strong> dropped in.<\/p>\n

“We wanted to bring it back to Kingaroy because we believed there was a demand and there is nothing like it here,” Michelle said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
