Landholders and community groups are being encouraged to apply for up to $200,000 under Round 2 of the Federal Government’s Smart Farms Small Grants scheme.<\/p>\n

Agriculture Minister fDavid Littleproud encouraged Landcare groups, NRM bodies, Indigenous organisations and community groups to throw their hat in the ring.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe future of Aussie agriculture relies on sustainable farming and land management practices,\u201d Mr Littleproud said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur farmers are looking for new practices and tools to stay sustainable and profitable.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese grants support new projects to improve Aussie soil, biodiversity and vegetation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThey will also help support water security and promote climate-smart farming.<\/p>\n

\u201cUltimately, this leads to more profitable agriculture, fishing and forestry industries.”<\/p>\n

Almost $5 million in funding was awarded to 77 projects under Round 1; the latest round has $9 million available.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know there\u2019s exceptional ideas out there, and these grants can make them a reality,” Mr Littleproud said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first round of funding was highly competitive, attracting over 800 applications.<\/p>\n

\u201cI strongly encourage those who missed out in Round 1 to apply again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Round 2 of the Smart Farms Small Grants opened on November 13. Applications will close on January 11. <\/strong><\/p>\n
