Handsome young men, pretty girls and fancy cars … it must be the formal season in the South Burnett!<\/p>\n

Year 12 students from St Mary’s Catholic College in Kingaroy held their annual valedictory dinner at the Kingaroy Town Hall on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n

St Mary’s traditionally is the first of the South Burnett high schools to hold its formal, but this year Nanango State High School went early, beating it to the punch.<\/p>\n

The St Mary’s students and their partners arrived in style in Glendon Street, alighting at the foot of a red carpet which extended the length of the Town Hall Forecourt.<\/p>\n

There was none of the more unusual choices of conveyance, ie. horses or semi-trailers, but there was an exciting assortment of very desirable Fords and Holdens, and even the odd Morris and Chevy.<\/p>\n

Family members and friends snapped photos as the students walked up the carpet towards the Town Hall, pausing every now and then to chat.<\/p>\n

A running commentary about the vehicles, dresses and “fun facts” about the students was provided by Damien Martoo, from The Martoo Review (and St Mary’s P&F), and music teacher Jane Iszlaub.<\/p>\n
