“You’ll Never Find Another Cherbourg Girl Like Me” … Aunty Lillian Gray and Muddy Flats kept the dance floor jumping, especially when she sang the old Cherbourg classic<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The 2018 NAIDOC Week slogan “Because Of Her We Can” was adopted as the theme for this year’s Golden Oldies at Cherbourg … and the ladies came out in force!<\/p>\n

You should have seen them on the dance floor …<\/p>\n

Golden Oldies is for the over-50s only.<\/p>\n

It began at Cherbourg more than 25\u00a0 years ago when some elders in the community decided they were tired of only catching up with old friends at funerals.<\/p>\n

They decided to organise an event once a year to have a good time, reminisce and celebrate life and friendship.<\/p>\n

As always, there was lots of music, lots of dancing and lots of laughter on Saturday at the Welfare Hall.<\/p>\n

People born in\u00a0Cherbourg \u2013 or with links to the community \u2013 come from all over Queensland for the reunion.<\/p>\n

It is also a great day out for the residents of Cherbourg’s Ny-Ku Byun Elders Village.<\/p>\n
