{"id":22201,"date":"2013-01-30T12:34:51","date_gmt":"2013-01-30T02:34:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=22201"},"modified":"2020-09-30T13:07:24","modified_gmt":"2020-09-30T03:07:24","slug":"flood-aid-for-gympie-shire-residents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2013\/01\/30\/flood-aid-for-gympie-shire-residents\/","title":{"rendered":"Flood Aid For Gympie Shire Residents"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_15200\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15200\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/truss_200.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-15200\" title=\"Warren Truss\" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/truss_200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/truss_200.jpg 200w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/truss_200-173x300.jpg 173w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-15200\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Member for Wide Bay<br \/>Warren Truss<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>January 30, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Immediate Federal Government financial assistance is available to help people who have been adversely affected by flooding in the Gympie local government area.<\/p>\n<p>Federal Member for Wide Bay, Warren Truss, said payments of $1000 per eligible adult and $400 per child are available under similar conditions to those which have applied in previous natural disasters.<\/p>\n<p>Those eligible for assistance include people:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Whose principal place of residence has been destroyed or sustained major damage<\/li>\n<li>Who have been unable to gain access to their principal place of residence for at least 24 hours<\/li>\n<li>Stranded in their principal place of residence for a period of at least 24 hours; and<\/li>\n<li>Whose residence was without electricity, water, gas, sewerage services and other essential services for a continuous period of 48 hours or more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applicants must reside in the Gympie, Fraser Coast or Gladstone local government areas.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Truss said there are thousands of people in the Wide Bay electorate who will qualify for these benefits.<\/p>\n<p>They are not asset or income-tested. Many people have been unable to get in and out of their homes and countless more have had extended interruption to their electricity supplies.<\/p>\n<p>While essential service providers are working hard to restore normal services, it will be many days before all services are back to normal.<\/p>\n<p>The payments can be claimed online using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.humanservices.gov.au\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Centrelink online services<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, people can call 180-22-66 or complete a claim form at their nearest Centrelink or Medicare service centre or agent.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Truss said a Newstart-type payment may also be available to small businesses affected by the flood and their employees.<\/p>\n<p>These payments are in addition to State Government assistance already announced.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>For more information, see the Department of Human Services\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.humanservices.gov.au\/customer\/enablers\/centrelink\/australian-government-disaster-recovery-payment\/queensland-floods-january-2013\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Related article: <a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2013\/01\/state-govt-offers-emergency-assistance-grants\/\">Emergency Assistance Grants Available<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Immediate Australian Government financial assistance is available to assist people who have been adversely affected by flooding in the Gympie local government area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":15201,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[5,3],"tags":[177],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
