A 33-year-old Kingaroy man has been charged with a string of offences following the discovery of a burned out car just outside Nanango in the early hours of Friday morning.<\/p>\n

Police will allege they attempted to\u00a0stop a Holden Commodore in Haly Street, Kingaroy, about 1:00am, however the vehicle sped off and they did not give chase.<\/p>\n

Subsequent investigations revealed the vehicle had been stolen, but not reported, from a Murray Parade address earlier in the day.<\/p>\n

At 2:25am, the Commodore was located burnt out at the intersection of Brooklands and Parsons Road, Nanango.<\/p>\n

On Monday morning, police attended an address looking for a man whom they believed could assist with their inquiries.<\/p>\n

“The man presented at the door in an aggressive and confrontational manner, threatening to assault police,” Officer-in-Charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant David Tierney said.<\/p>\n

Police deployed capsicum spray but as they entered the home, it will be alleged the incident escalated.<\/p>\n

It will be alleged the man grabbed a knife block, containing six knives, and advanced towards police.<\/p>\n

The police officers then pulled out their handguns and told the man to drop the knives.<\/p>\n

He was then pulled to the ground and arrested.<\/p>\n

The man was due to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates on Monday afternoon to face\u00a0two counts of serious assault, obstruct police, evade police, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and arson.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
