{"id":221743,"date":"2018-11-05T10:59:28","date_gmt":"2018-11-05T00:59:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=221743"},"modified":"2018-11-29T18:26:38","modified_gmt":"2018-11-29T08:26:38","slug":"police-urge-drivers-to-do-their-part","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2018\/11\/05\/police-urge-drivers-to-do-their-part\/","title":{"rendered":"Police Urge Drivers To &#8216;Do Their Part&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>November 5, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nanango Police are urging South Burnett drivers to do their part in reducing the road toll &#8211; especially in the lead up to the Christmas holidays, the most dangerous time of the year on Queensland roads.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There&#8217;s some responsibilities that drivers must keep in mind:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The overwhelming majority of road crashes can be attributed to human error (ie errors made by normal people).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Pre-travel vehicle maintenance is important, especially where it involves towing vehicles less frequently used like caravans, trailers and boats.\u00a0 It is important that the tyres, bearings, electricals and hitches are up to the task.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Concentrate on driving and minimise distractions.\u00a0Being able to identify a problem and responding in time could make the difference.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Be patient and courteous to other road users.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>If it is flooded, forget it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Police will continue to prioritise enforcement for the Fatal 5 \u2013 speed, impaired driving, seat belts, fatigue and inattention &#8211; as these behaviours contribute to most fatal and injury crashes.<\/p>\n<p>Also, when driving any vehicle, it the driver&#8217;s responsibility to make sure the vehicle is registered and roadworthy.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>On Wednesday,\u00a0 a 29-year-old Byee woman was issued with a traffic infringement notice after she was caught travelling on the Burnett Highway at 124 km\/h in a 100km\/h zone.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, a Nanango man was stopped by police driving in the Nanango area.
