The young singers put on an energetic performance, acting out the words of “Keep On”<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

November 4, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n

Students from six local State schools assembled on the steps of the Kingaroy Town Hall on Saturday morning to celebrate the joy of music.<\/p>\n

The Prep to Year 6 students, from Taabinga, Kingaroy, Coolabunia, Proston, Kumbia and Crawford schools, were taking part in the annual “Music: Count Us In” nationwide music project.<\/p>\n

“Music: Count Us In” is organised by Music Australia and last year 600,000 students from more than 3000 schools across the country took part.<\/p>\n

This is the fourth year South Burnett schools have joined in.<\/p>\n

The students, led by music teachers Ginny Salmon and Jill Cartmill, were watched by a crowd of proud family members and friends who gathered in the forecourt for the performance.<\/p>\n

There was a festive atmosphere with the Kingaroy Lions Club doing a sausage sizzle and a coffee van also present.<\/p>\n

Coolabunia State School principal Murray Johnston praised the students and their parents for coming along – especially the Proston family who travelled 90 minutes for a five-minute performance!<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said it was the largest group of South Burnett students to have taken part in “Count Us In” so far.<\/p>\n

The students have been practising for weeks for the performance.<\/p>\n

Mr Johnston thanked Mrs Salmon and Mrs Cartmill for inspiring the young singers.<\/p>\n

The song the students performed as “Keep On”, a hit from a previous “Count Us In”.<\/p>\n

And they did it so well, they were invited back for an encore!<\/p>\n

Their only reward at the end of it all? Freddo frogs, ice blocks and lots of applause.<\/p>\n
