Saturday night’s “locals helping locals” comedy night fundraiser in Kingaroy has raised at least $8000 to help South Burnett farmers.<\/p>\n

The night, which featured four Brisbane-based comedians (unfortunately the fifth had to drop out at the last minute due to illness), packed the Red Ants clubhouse at T.J. O’Neill Oval.<\/p>\n

Organiser Simon Neal said about 110 tickets had were sold for the night, which also featured live music by local band RiSa and a steakburger dinner.<\/p>\n

Simon said that as well as the ticket sales, funds had also been raised through a raffle and generous donations by sponsors.<\/p>\n

All the money will be handed to Graham House Neighbourhood Centre in Murgon to assist South Burnett farming families.<\/p>\n

Bill Hull Car Centre donated $3000 to the cause when owner Jacqui Trace heard about the fundraising effort.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Red Ants also donated $500.<\/p>\n

Sponsorship of $2500 by wind farm developer AGL covered the costs of the evening as well as leaving some dollars left over for Graham House.<\/p>\n

Simon said he would also like to thank The Little Butcher, Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington, Raine & Horne Kingaroy, Endeavour Kitchen and Fiedler Plumbing who covered the costs of the food.<\/p>\n
