The State Government will make $150,000 of grants available for Queensland Women’s Week celebrations in 2019, and community groups have been invited to apply for a share.<\/p>\n

Minister for Women Di Farmer said the funds were available for organisations who wanted to host events, projects or activities designed to inspire Queensland communities to respect women, embrace gender equality and promote and protect the rights, interests and wellbeing of women and girls.<\/p>\n

Ms Farmer said community organisations could apply for grants of up to $3000 to hold celebrations during the week, which would run from March 2-10, 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The success of Queensland Women\u2019s Week has grown year on year, and in 2019 we want to build on that momentum making next year\u2019s celebrations bigger and better,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

“For next year\u2019s Queensland Women\u2019s Week, we are looking for activities that help Queensland women and girls improve their financial literacy and capability, or events that raise awareness in the community of the issues that contribute to women\u2019s financial disadvantage and economic insecurity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Farmer said Queensland Women\u2019s Week provided a strong platform to continue efforts to create real gender equality and tackle the causes of inequality.<\/p>\n

“We know that by working together towards gender equality, all Queenslanders can have the same opportunities to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The Office for Women is administering the 2019 Queensland Women’s Week grant program.<\/p>\n

Grants are available to eligible applicants, which include not-for-profit groups, local government entities, and P&C Associations.<\/p>\n

Applications for the grants close at 5:00pm on Sunday, November 11.<\/strong><\/p>\n
