Notches Up First Win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>October 26, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It was a mixed start to the A Grade cricket season for the two South Burnett teams in Round 1 of the Gympie competition on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>In Murgon, Murgon District proved too strong for Gympie Valleys; but in Kingaroy, the Southern District Devils went down to Gympie Colts.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #006699;\"><strong>A Grade<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Gympie Valleys won the toss and sent Murgon District into bat at Murgon Showgrounds.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The home side finished with 6\/194 off their 40 overs, with Jason Webber top-scoring with 69.<\/p>\n<p>In reply, Valleys were all out for 96 off 29.4 overs after a strong performance by the Murgon bowlers.<\/p>\n<p>Bryce Edwards took 4\/35 (off eight overs),\u00a0Allen Ledger 3\/15 (off 8),\u00a0Shane Polzin 1\/8 (off 2),\u00a0Jason Webber 1\/11 (off 3), and\u00a0Paul Brunner 1\/2 off just four balls.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Murgon will play Gympie Colts this weekend at\u00a0Kozminsky Oval in Gympie.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>The Southern District Devils won the toss against Gympie Colts at Lyle Vidler Oval and batted first.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Devils were bowled out for 102 in the 22nd over.<\/p>\n<p>Hayden Wieck top-scored with 38, followed by opener Matthew Patroni with 14.<\/p>\n<p>Gympie bowler Sam Lang demolished the home side, taking 6\/10 off six overs.<\/p>\n<p>In reply, Colts made the target for the loss of just one wicket.<\/p>\n<p>Dean Walker top-scored with 67 not out.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Southern District will play Western Gympie this weekend at Spencer Oval in Gympie.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #006699;\"><strong>B Grade<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Following the washout of Round 2, a full round of B Grade cricket games were played in the South Burnett at the weekend.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Nanango Scorpions defeated Wondai by four wickets in a high-scoring game at Nanango Sportsground on Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wondai won the toss and batted first.<\/p>\n<p>They were all out for 228 in the 36th over, with Robert Robarts top-scoring with 116.<\/p>\n<p>Brett Burrows was the best of the Nanango bowlers, taking 3\/18, including the all-important wicket of Robarts.<\/p>\n<p>In reply, Nanango passed the target in the 35th over for the loss of six wickets.<\/p>\n<p>Stephen Kirkland top-scored for the Scorpions, finishing 89 not out.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>At Taabinga State School Oval, Kingaroy Services won the toss and chose to bat against Cherbourg &#8211; a decision they may later have regretted.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kingaroy were all out for 49 in the 18th over.<\/p>\n<p>Barry Fisher\u00a0Snr did the damage, taking six wickets for just 12 runs off 4.4 overs.<\/p>\n<p>In reply,\u00a0Cherbourg made 5\/68 in the 10th over.<\/p>\n<p>Brendan\u00a0McCarthy top-scored with 28 not out.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Murgon District proved too strong for the Timbertowners in their match played at Blackbutt.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Murgon won the toss and batted first.<\/p>\n<p>They were all out for 238 in the 38th over.<\/p>\n<p>Jon Kapernick was best with the bat for Murgon, top-scoring with 72.<\/p>\n<p>Shane Argent took 2\/17 off five overs for Blackbutt.<\/p>\n<p>In reply, Blackbutt were all out for 161 in the 23rd over.<\/p>\n<p>Zac Ennis top-scored for the Timbertowners with 60.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Sommerfeld took 4\/30 off seven overs.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>In a close game played in Kingaroy, Kumbia Rattlers proved too good in the end against the Kallindale Warriors, who ran out of time in their chase.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kumbia won the toss and elected to bat, finishing all out for 254 in the 35th over.<\/p>\n<p>Opener Bevan Fawcett anchored the Rattlers, hitting a century and finishing with 113 after being supported at the crease by\u00a0Clayton\u00a0Crawford (32) and Shane Laherty (29).<\/p>\n<p>Dane Bloomfield was the best of the Warriors&#8217; bowlers, taking 5\/58 off eight overs.<\/p>\n<p>In reply, Warriors were 4\/239 at the end of their 40 overs.<\/p>\n<p>Opener Jeffrey Rose also finished with a century, 112 not out.<\/p>\n<p>Geoff Edwards was the best of the Kumbia bowlers, taking 1\/34 off four overs.<\/p>\n<p>Kumbia won by 15 runs.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"color:
