Thirty-three people have been charged with a total of 78 offences after drug raids\u00a0in Murgon, Cherbourg, Kingaroy, Nanango, Blackbutt and Yarraman during the past week.<\/p>\n

South Burnett police officers, with help from the Moreton and Ipswich Tactical Crime Squads, Drug Detection Dog Unit and Major and Organised Crime Squad, carried out “Operation Ink 1”.<\/p>\n

The operation,\u00a0 led by Murgon and Kingaroy detectives, was rolled out over three phases.<\/p>\n

Police seized amphetamine, cannabis and drug paraphernalia (including syringes and needles)\u00a0 as well as weapons and ammunition.<\/p>\n

A police spokesperson said more charges were expected in coming days.<\/p>\n

A police search of a Blackbutt property allegedly located 234 cannabis plants of varying maturity.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A 65-year-old Blackbutt man will appear in Nanango Magistrates Court on November 2 charged with drug possession and production of a dangerous drug.<\/p>\n

Murgon \/ Cherbourg co-ordinator, Acting Inspector Scott Stahlhut, said the raids demonstrated the commitment police had to stopping the production and supply of drugs in the South Burnett.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cPolice are committed to ensuring those responsible are identified and their unlawful activities are ceased,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat offenders need to think about is the impact their behaviour is causing to others, particularly the vulnerable end user.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose offenders who persist in the supply of illicit drugs can expect police to come through their door at any time, day or night, and face the consequences.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese operations will continue.”<\/p>\n

Murgon detectives have arrested and charged a 17-year-old boy in relation to multiple offences, including unlawful entry to dwellings, unlawful use of motor vehicle and obstruct police, allegedly committed in Murgon and Kingaroy between October 11-14.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.<\/p>\n
