Energy Minister Dr Anthony Lynham<\/figcaption><\/figure>October 18, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n

The $35 million maintenance works currently under way at Tarong Power Station will provide a boost to the South Burnett economy, Energy Minister Dr Anthony Lynham told State Parliament on Thursday.<\/p>\n

He said local contractors, including Kingaroy Hydraulics and G3 Engineering, would provide skilled labour and perform parts of the work.<\/p>\n

As well, 50 local people would be hired by Stanwell\u2019s contractors for the duration of the shutdown.<\/p>\n

South Burnett businesses were also providing catering, transport and accommodation for Stanwell employees and contractors during the overhaul.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe work at Tarong will ensure the power station is well positioned to continue to provide secure and reliable electricity for Queensland heading into the summer months,” Mr Lynham said. <\/p>\n
