South Burnett Musical Comedy Society’s massive production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” cast a spell on audiences at the new Kingaroy Performing Arts Centre on Friday night.<\/p>\n

The musical is the largest staged by the not-for-profit group.<\/p>\n

There’s 60 in the cast – the youngest player is aged just four – plus a crew of 15.<\/p>\n

It’s also the first major event to be held in the new KPAC venue at Kingaroy State High School.<\/p>\n

Beauty and The Beast tells the tale of a young woman, Belle, who becomes imprisoned by a Prince who has been turned into a Beast by a female sorcerer.<\/p>\n

Can he learn to love (and be loved in return) in time to break the spell?<\/p>\n

There’s an enchanted castle, enchanted candlesticks and even a talking teacup … enough to keep the whole family entertained.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Musical Comedy Society members began planning their latest production more than five months ago.<\/p>\n

As well as the big cast, Beauty and the Beast also features some of the largest stage backdrops ever used by the group.<\/p>\n

If you missed out on Friday night’s premiere, there’s still plenty of time to catch the production.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There’s five more shows in Kingaroy: October 13 (7:00pm), October 14 (2:00pm), October 19 (7:00pm), October 20 (7:00pm) and October 21 (2:00pm).<\/p>\n

Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for concession \/ students; five and under are free.<\/p>\n

After the Kingaroy season finishes, the cast and crew will be off for a special performance at the Empire Theatre in Toowoomba.<\/p>\n

This is the first time that the\u00a0South Burnett Musical Comedy Society has been invited to appear at the historic venue.<\/p>\n

This performance will be held from 7:00pm on Saturday, October 27, and tickets can be booked online<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
