A young Kingaroy mother and her daughter were recovering at home on Friday after being pelted by hail during Thursday’s storm.<\/p>\n

Fiona Simpson, her daughter Clara, four months, and her 78-year-old grandmother were driving along the D’Aguilar Highway when the storm struck near Coolabunia.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve learnt my lesson today, NEVER drive in a hail storm!” she wrote on Facebook.<\/p>\n

“We parked on the side of the road when the storm got too heavy and the hail blew out our windows. I covered my infant with my body to stop her from getting badly injured.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m just so relieved that my daughter and grandmother are all right.<\/p>\n

“Please, please be careful in this storm season.”<\/p>\n

The trio was taken to Kingaroy Hospital by ambulance for treatment.<\/p>\n

Fiona suffered multiple bruises and lacerations to her back, arms and head.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Fiona said she and Clara were now safe at home.<\/p>\n

“Grandma is recovering in hospital and will be home soon,” she said.<\/p>\n
