The Kingaroy Aero Modellers Society (KAMS)\u00a0will be holding its fourth annual fly-in on October 20-21 . . . and everyone is invited to come along and have a go!<\/p>\n

KAMS is a model aircraft club, but you’d be wrong to think these planes are toys.<\/p>\n

For one thing, many are quite big and the stunts they perform often leave pilots of full-size aircraft stunned.<\/p>\n

For example, have you ever seen a full-size helicopter flying upside-down?<\/p>\n

KAMS President John Box said this was the first year the club was holding a two-day event.<\/p>\n

The fly-in weekend is a fundraiser for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and donations will be collected on the day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For a $10 donation, visitors will receive an RFDS Commemorative badge and the opportunity to have a go at flying a radio-controlled aircraft.<\/p>\n

Members from other model aircraft clubs have been invited and will be camping overnight at the KAMS airfield.<\/p>\n

There will be general flying on both the Saturday and Sunday as well as night flying on Saturday evening with special lighting.<\/p>\n

The official opening will be held at 10:00am on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Coffee, tea, cold drinks and a sausage sizzle will be available all day Sunday.<\/p>\n

Royal Flying Doctor Service (Qld) Community Fundraising Co-ordinator Sarah-Jayne Curry said the RFDS had flown more than 360 people from South Burnett during the past year, many to tertiary hospitals in Brisbane for urgent specialist care.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are extremely grateful to have supporters such as the Kingaroy Aero Modellers Society, who generously offer to help raise much needed funds for the RFDS in Queensland,\u201d Ms Curry said.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach year in Queensland the RFDS must raise about $14 million to help purchase vital medical equipment and fit out its specialty aircraft to ensure it can continue delivering its first-class health care to more than 95,000 people each year in regional, rural and remote Queensland.\u201d<\/p>\n
