September 27, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n

Everything from the smallest stationary engine to the largest semi-trailer was on display at the recent Kingaroy and District Machinery Club Rally in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The club’s 21st birthday celebration focused on British marques, but there was still a good representation of machinery from other parts of the world.<\/p>\n

Old farming skills were also on display, including bag loading, log splitting, corn husking, ploughing and an old Osgood shovel proving it could still shift piles and piles of red dirt.<\/p>\n

The Grand Parades – held twice on Saturday and once on Sunday – attracted a large number of entries, proudly chuffing around the special arena at the club’s grounds near the airport.<\/p>\n

Also popular in the arena were the tractor pulls.<\/p>\n

The tractors compete every year to see how far they can go down a set course in the arena, pulling a weighted sled.<\/p>\n

The further each tractor goes, the further the weight shifts forward, making the task even harder.<\/p>\n

Some of the tractors end up doing wheelstands, while others – purpose-built for the competition – roar down the course like finely tuned race cars.<\/p>\n
