Murgon Mustangs hosted a special two-day carnival of junior rugby league at the weekend featuring two South Burnett Eagles sides plus 11 visiting teams.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs Challenge attracted U12s teams from\u00a0Gympie, Toowoomba, Western Downs, Roma, Beerwah, Hervey Bay, Noosa, Warwick and Stanley River.<\/p>\n

There was also a combined\u00a0Southern Outback team made up of players from Charleville, Cunnamulla, Longreach and Augathella.<\/p>\n

The teams were divided into two pools, with the winners of each pool playing off in a final on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Two Toowoomba Clydesdales teams ended up on top with Toowoomba 2 (Sky Blue) taking on Toowoomba 1 (Royal Blue).<\/p>\n

Toowoomba 2 team ended up winning 14-12 in a great game to finish the weekend.<\/p>\n

Sheree Prendergast, from the Murgon Mustangs, said she\u00a0would like to particularly thank all the volunteers who helped over the weekend.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Also Carl and Candice Braithwaite and family for all their efforts,” she said.<\/p>\n

“And Phillip Braithwaite, Greg Pearce, Graham Champney and Blake Mara for being the Challenge’s independent 3-2-1 judges.”<\/p>\n

South Burnett 1 (Blue) player Christian Simpson was named Best Forward for the carnival.<\/p>\n
