Fire crews in the South Burnett were stretched on Thursday with major fires breaking out at Glan Devon and Booie within two hours of each other.<\/p>\n

The fire at Glan Devon ignited first, followed by a blaze near Smith Road \/ Faulkners Road at Booie.<\/p>\n

Both fires were whipped up quickly by strong winds, jumping local roads and sending smoke soaring into the sky.<\/p>\n

Urban and rural crews were kept busy protecting houses.<\/p>\n

Flames came with metres of buildings in the Booie fire, and a waterbombing helicopter was called in to drop loads on both blazes.<\/p>\n

By evening, the threat posed by both fires had subsided.<\/p>\n

However, firefighters will continue to monitor both locations overnight.<\/p>\n

Bushfire warning level: ADVICE – STAY INFORMED<\/p>\n

At 4:20pm, a bushfire is burning near Pates Road and Cooper Road, travelling towards Coolabunia-Malar Road, Booie.<\/p>\n

Firefighters are working to contain the fire. People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.<\/p>\n

Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe you or your property is under threat.<\/p>\n

Fire crews remain on scene at a bushfire burning near Pates Road and Cooper Road, Booie.<\/p>\n

This fire broke out yesterday and is posing no threat to property at this time.<\/p>\n

Firefighters are working to contain the fire and smoke may affect surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.<\/p>\n

Fire crews are monitoring the bushfire burning in the vicinity of Booie Road and Pates Road, Booie.<\/p>\n

At 5:40pm, a fast-moving fire is burning between Faulkners Road and Coolabunia-Malar Road.<\/p>\n

The fire is likely to impact Smith Road, Coolabunia=Malar Road, Pates Road and Faulkners Road.<\/p>\n

Fire crews are strengthening control lines in an effort to contain the fire, but firefighters may not be able to protect every property.<\/p>\n

You should not expect a firefighter at your door.<\/p>\n

People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.<\/p>\n

Bushfire warning level: WATCH AND ACT<\/p>\n

At 3:30pm, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services issued a Watch and Act alert for a bushfire burning near Smith Road and Faulkners Road at Booie.<\/p>\n

QFES report the fast-moving fire was travelling in an easterly direction from Pates Road towards Faulkners Road, and was likely to impact Faulkners Road.<\/p>\n

Fire crews were working to contain the fire but firefighters may not be able to protect every property. You should not expect a firefighter at your door.<\/p>\n

People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.<\/p>\n

Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe your property is under threat.<\/p>\n

You need to be ready to follow your bushfire survival plan.<\/p>\n

If you do not have a plan, or intend to leave, you should be ready to leave the area because the situation could get worse quickly.<\/p>\n

At 2:45pm on Thursday, fire crews were despatched to a large grass fire burning near Smith Road and Faulkners Road at Booie.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fire was reportedly burning near houses on Smith Road.<\/p>\n

Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe your property is under threat.<\/p>\n

Glan Devon Fire<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

UPDATE 6:40pm Thursday<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council has advised there is a temporary road closure at Locke Lane, Nanango <\/strong><\/p>\n

It has been closed due to the impact of the fire in the area and potential debris.<\/p>\n

The road closure will be reassessed and an update provided by 8:30am Friday.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 5:35pm Thursday<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bushfire warning level: ADVICE – STAY INFORMED<\/p>\n

QFES crews are currently on scene at a bushfire burning near Locke Lane, East Nanango Grindstone Road and Cobby Road, Glan Devon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This fire broke out earlier today and is posing no threat to property at this time.<\/p>\n

Firefighters are currently monitoring the blaze, which is burning within containment lines.<\/p>\n

Crews will continue to monitor the fire overnight.<\/p>\n

Glan Devon residents may be affected by a smoke haze throughout the evening.<\/p>\n

Residents are asked to close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by.<\/p>\n

Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions.<\/p>\n

If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 3:50pm Thursday<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bushfire warning level: ADVICE – STAY INFORMED<\/p>\n

A bushfire is currently burning near Locke Lane, East Nanango Grindstone Road and Cobby Road, travelling towards Mount Stanley Road, Glan Devon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.<\/p>\n

Waterbombing operations are being conducted in the area.<\/p>\n

Properties are not under direct threat at this time. Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe you or your property is under threat.<\/p>\n

UPDATE: 2:30pm Thursday<\/strong><\/p>\n

A large fire is burning near Locke Lane at Glan Devon, north of Nanango, sending plumes of smoke into the air.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fire was reported to QFES just after 12:30pm on Thursday.<\/p>\n

At 2:30pm, there were 15 fire crews on scene, both urban and rural, who were working to contain the fire.<\/p>\n

Water bombers have also been requested to assist.<\/p>\n

Smoke may be affecting traffic on the Burnett Highway.<\/p>\n

Motorists have been urged to drive to conditions and be alert for any emergency vehicles in the area.<\/p>\n
