{"id":218410,"date":"2018-09-17T17:32:03","date_gmt":"2018-09-17T07:32:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=218410"},"modified":"2020-07-28T10:18:42","modified_gmt":"2020-07-28T00:18:42","slug":"yarraman-water-restrictions-tighten","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2018\/09\/17\/yarraman-water-restrictions-tighten\/","title":{"rendered":"Yarraman Water Restrictions Tighten"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/niACYPzNXUg?rel=0\" width=\"740\" height=\"440\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>September 17, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yarraman, which relies on Boondooma Dam for water supplies, will move to medium-level water restrictions on Tuesday, September 18.<\/p>\n<p>Toowoomba Regional Council announced the restrictions on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Boondooma Dam was at 33.82 per cent capacity on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Toowoomba region towns that rely on bore water are also affected, including Cambooya, Greenmount, Cecil Plains and Pittsworth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mayor Paul Antonio said predictions by the Bureau of Meteorology that things would get worse before getting better have unfortunately come true, particularly for communities that are not connected to the Toowoomba Bulk Water Supply Network.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe drought conditions are causing significant stress on water supplies and Council bores are under pressure in a number of regional communities,&#8221; the Mayor said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the driest year for our region since 1901 and the decision to move to increase water restrictions will take pressure off local aquifers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWeather experts say Australia is moving into an El Nino period by the end of Spring, bringing dry and warm conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrent forecasts from the Bureau of Meteorology indicate below-average rainfall and this means that various areas throughout our region are likely to move to higher restrictions in the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need the community\u2019s help to reduce water consumption as the drought conditions continue to impact us all.\u00a0The more water we can save the better.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yarraman, which relies on Boondooma Dam for water supplies, will move to medium-level water restrictions on Tuesday (September 18).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":268009,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[22,3],"tags":[1131,176],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
