recent sale<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>September 12, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.prattagencies.com.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">by Pratt Agencies<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Showers and storms over the preceding weekend were the main reason for numbers being reduced to 500 in Murgon on Tuesday, August 28 at the fortnightly cattle sale.<\/p>\n<p>However, the market improved for all descriptions.<\/p>\n<p>Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Eidsvold, Hivesville, Brigooda, Nanango and the Murgon area.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sale results:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Heavy Bulls sold to $2.52\/kg and $2030<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Bullocks sold to $2.71\/kg for $1570<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Export Heifers sold to $2.50\/kg for $1290<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Cows over 500kg sold to $2.25\/kg, averaging $2.12\/kg, up 10c on the previous sale<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Cows 400-500kg sold to $2.19\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Cows under 400kg topped at $2.15\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>498kg Belmont Red steers from M &amp; C Ward of Murgon sold to $1190 at $2.40\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Brangus steers from Gayndah weighing 390kg sold for $1000 at $2.57\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Droughtmaster steers from Hivesville weighing 387kg sold for $2.56\/kg, returning $993<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Charbray weaner steers from R, F &amp; W Nichol of Eidsvold sold to $2.68\/kg and $732<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Charolais weaner steers from J &amp; B Smith of Brigooda sold for $600 at $2.71\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>2 pens of Simmental cross weaner steers from Gayndah sold for $780 at $2.65\/kg and $650 at $2.56\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>440kg Droughtmaster heifers from Nanango sold for $1100 and $2.49\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>3 pens of Santa heifers from Merlwood Enterprises of Murgon sold for $914, 361kg at $2.53\/kg ($907), 361kg at $2.51\/kg ($862), 345kg at $2.50\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Local Droughtmaster heifers weighing 391kg sold to $972 at $2.48\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>380kg Brangus heifers from Gayndah also sold to $2.48\/kg for $943<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>2 pens of Charbray weaner heifers from Eidsvold sold for $2.35\/kg, returning $600 and $500 respectively<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Brahman cross weaner heifers from Gayndah sold for $622 and $2.28\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Most weaner heifers sold in the $1.90-$2.10\/kg bracket<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>This Tuesday (September 11), just under 500 head were yarded in Murgon where most descriptions sold to a fully firm market.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There was a slight improvement in heavy feeder steers and better types of weaner heifers.<\/p>\n<p>Cattle for the sale were drawn from Durong, Mundubbera, Gayndah, Biggenden, Nanango, Jimna, Kilkivan and the Murgon area.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sale results:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Export Bullocks improved, selling to $2.88\/kg and $2017<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Heavy Cows also sold to dearer rates, topping at $2.35\/kg and $1510<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Cows over 500kg averaged $2.10\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Cows 400\u2013500kg sold to $2.24\/kg, averaging $1.95\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Only a handful of Heavy Bulls were yarded and sold to $2.40\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Local Santa steers weighing 416kg sold to $1150 at $2.76\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Their 394kg brothers were selling for $2.69\/kg to return $1060<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Charolais cross steers from R, J &amp; J Creagh of Boondooma sold for $1115 at $2.73\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>323kg Charbray steers from Didcot sold to $2.51\/kg for $812<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>3 pens of plainer conditioned Droughtmaster steers ex Johnstown sold for a $778, averaging $2.70\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Charbray weaner steers from R, F &amp; W Nichol of Durong sold to $2.70\/kg and $732<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Charbray weaner steers from Jimna sold to $2.68\/kg to return $552<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>410kg Droughtmaster heifers from Merlwood sold to $2.60\/kg for $1070<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Local Charolais weaner heifers sold for $2.40\/kg for $655<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Light Santa weaner heifers from Wondai sold to $2.30\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A big percentage of the weaner heifers yarded sold in the
