{"id":217615,"date":"2018-09-10T13:03:13","date_gmt":"2018-09-10T03:03:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=217615"},"modified":"2020-07-28T11:34:32","modified_gmt":"2020-07-28T01:34:32","slug":"graziers-urged-to-apply-for-permits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2018\/09\/10\/graziers-urged-to-apply-for-permits\/","title":{"rendered":"Graziers Urged To Apply For Permits"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_12004\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12004\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/cattle.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-12004\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/cattle.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"464\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/cattle.jpg 620w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/cattle-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12004\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Graziers must apply for permits before allowing their cattle to graze the &#8220;long paddock&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>September 10, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Burnett Regional Council has reminded drought-affected graziers to apply for a permit before grazing their stock along roadsides.<\/p>\n<p>Short-term grazing permits can be issued for periods of up to three weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Cost is $1.05 per head per week.<\/p>\n<p>To get a permit, landholders must complete an application for a Stock Route Grazing Permit (see link below) and supply the following information:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of head and description of herd (sex, age, brand)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Public liability insurance details (minimum of $20 million)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Property identification codes and lot on plan numbers of where the stock come from<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The area applying to be grazed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The area to be grazed is usually adjacent to the land owner\u2019s property, but if not, Council also requires a letter of non-objection from the adjoining landholder.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Roadsides may only be grazed if a permit has been issued by Council,&#8221; a Council statement said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Applications will be assessed for safety to road users and other considerations on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Permits are issued dependent on pasture levels and can be renewed upon inspection.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Acting Mayor Cr Kathy Duff encouraged farmers to take advantage of the permits.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>External link: Download a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southburnett.qld.gov.au\/documents\/41153986\/41193513\/Stock%20Route%20Agistment%20Permit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stock Route Agistment Permit application form<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>UPDATE 3:00pm<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Council has provided some updated information:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This type of permit is specifically available for exceptional circumstances, including flood, fire and drought.<\/p>\n<p>The fee of $1.05 per head per week is the minimum charge that Council can apply under the Stock Route Management Act 2002, which is administered by the State Government.<\/p>\n<p>Although Council will be assessing applications and facilitating the permitting process, Council does not receive any revenue from the $1.05 charge, as this is a State Government fee (specifically, Section 187A (1) &amp; (2) of the Stock Route Management Act 2002).<\/p>\n<p>Councillors are currently lobbying the State Government to have the fee waived, and Council will update further as things progress.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>South Burnett Regional Council has reminded drought-affected graziers to apply for a permit before grazing their stock along roadsides.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":12004,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[22,3,36],"tags":[1131,1134],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
