The Maidenwell Community Group (MCG) is seeking sponsors to help create a new two-day Post Rip Challenge that will also help raise funds for LifeFlight.<\/p>\n

The inaugural event will run on September 29 and 30 at the Maidenwell Sportsground.<\/p>\n

The first day will feature heats of a large Open Post Rip competition that will kick off at 10:00am and run until late afternoon.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, a barbecue breakfast at 6:00am will help launch the finals of the Open Post Rip – which will also begin at 10:00am – along with a Major Open, a Jack and Jill, a Consolation and a Local Post Rip.<\/p>\n

Tanduringie State School’s P&C will be providing food and drink in the grounds on both days, and there’ll also be a jumping castle and face painting to keep children amused.<\/p>\n

Competitors and spectators who want to stay overnight can camp in the Showgrounds at no charge, and admission will be free for spectators as well.<\/p>\n

“We are looking for donations to attract competitors to the 10 events at our inaugural Maidenwell Chainsaw competition to aid LifeFlight and the Maidenwell Community Group,” MCG secretary Ros Kidman said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Each event will need to attract sponsorship of at least $400, however a single event can have more than one sponsor, so any donation is welcome.<\/p>\n

“Sponsors will be given naming rights to each event.”<\/p>\n

The MCG already run the very successful Maidenwell Easter Running Festival.<\/p>\n

Late last year they also organised the Maidenwell Woodchop, a combined wood-chopping and post-ripping event that raised $14,000 for LifeFlight’s helicopter rescue service.<\/p>\n

The Woodchop established that there was a strong appetite for post ripping in the region.<\/p>\n
