September 5, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n

A record number of stud beef entries, the return of the bull ride, gleaming trucks … the 101st Wondai Show had it all at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Warm spring weather helped to lure more visitors than usual to the showgrounds.<\/p>\n

Attractions this year included all the old favourites: the dog show, pavilion displays,\u00a0 poultry competition, a large sideshow alley and a spectacular Grand Parade.<\/p>\n

But there were also new attractions: the regular ute muster was supplemented with a huge truck show plus a vintage machinery display.<\/p>\n

And roaming the grounds was a T Rex – who proved a popular subject for selfies!<\/p>\n

Over in the car park area, the chainsaws were buzzing in jack-and-jill post rips, disc stacking and speed racing.<\/p>\n

The cattle yards were also kept busy with the stud beef,\u00a0 young judges, led steer and dairy competitions.<\/p>\n

Equestrian events took over the main ring, including showjumping, heavy horses and harness classes as well as the usual breeds competitions.<\/p>\n

The show was officially opened by former Wondai resident, Dr Linda Stewart.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Linda studied a Bachelor of Health Science and a Bachelor of Medicine at university and is now\u00a0working at\u00a0Toowoomba Hospital.<\/p>\n

Live entertainment on stage was provided during the afternoon by popular Nanango singer Amber Goldsmith.<\/p>\n

Barrel racing was another added attraction before the key event of the day\u00a0 … the bull ride.<\/p>\n

After a break of a couple of years, the bull ride returned with a bang as the evening entertainment, attracting a good crowd around the ring.<\/p>\n
