Queenslanders are being urged to be bushfire ready after Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) warned of an increased fire threat this weekend.<\/p>\n

Warmer weather, winds and already dry conditions could pose an increased risk of bushfires in southeast and central Queensland.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Fire and Emergency Services Minister Craig Crawford encouraged people to stay informed.<\/p>\n

“Our QFES crews are doing a wonderful job, but unfortunately that job isn\u2019t over,” Mr Crawford said.<\/p>\n

“QFES firefighters have responded to more than 1000 fires across the State since August 15, and they are bracing for another busy period.<\/p>\n

“Residents need to remain up-to-date on conditions, and about work they can do to reduce bushfire threats.<\/p>\n

“These measures can include clearing leaves, twigs, bark and debris from roofs and gutters, and trimming low-lying branches around the home or yard.<\/p>\n

“All these actions, no matter how small they seem, can make a big difference in an emergency.”<\/p>\n

Mr Crawford also urged motorists to remain alert when driving near emergencies such as bushfires.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m asking drivers to slow-down if they see emergency vehicles \u2013 not only for their own safety, but for the well-being of the hard-working crews responding to any incidents,” Mr Crawford said.<\/p>\n

People are being urged to report fires to Triple Zero (000).<\/p>\n
