Meals On Wheels chef Craig Lewis will be turning out 100 meals in a hurry this Wednesday to celebrate National Meals On Wheels Day, as well as help set a new national record<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

SBcare’s Meals on Wheels volunteers are taking part in a national challenge this week to help set an Australian record for the most community meals prepared in five hours.<\/p>\n

The kitchen team – led by Craig Lewis – will be spearheading the South Burnett’s contribution to the record by producing 100 roast chicken meals for their Kingaroy and Wondai clients on Wednesday as part of National Meals On Wheels Day.<\/p>\n

The meals will consist of soup, a main meal, dessert and a sandwich, all cooked fresh in SBcare’s Kingaroy kitchen.<\/p>\n

Once the meals are prepared, an official scorekeeper will pass the validated result on to Queensland Meals on Wheels to help set the national record.<\/p>\n

“This record attempt is all in a day\u2019s work for our Meals on Wheels team,” SBcare CEO Cheryl Dalton said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“But it’s wonderful to be able to highlight the fantastic efforts of our staff.”<\/p>\n

The SBcare Meals on Wheels service has had a resurgence recently, with many new clients coming on board.<\/p>\n

Meals on Wheels manager Jackie Raine said she believes this is due to changes in the meals.<\/p>\n

They are supported by a dedicated kitchen team who are producing high-quality meals that are also tasty and attractively presented.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe’ve introduced a new menu of meals delivered on a rotation basis,” chef Craig Lewis said.<\/p>\n

“We’ve added new and contemporary meals to the tried-and-true ones, along with new packaging that makes them look even more appealing.”<\/p>\n

Wednesday’s record attempt will be followed on Thursday with SBcare’s annual morning tea to thank their Meals On Wheels volunteers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This year’s focus will be on the kitchen volunteers, and the general public are welcome as well.<\/p>\n

The morning tea will start at 10:00am with a demonstration of the kitchen’s meal packaging machine.<\/p>\n

This will be followed by the morning tea at 10:30am inside SBcare’s hall at the corner of Kingaroy and Avoca streets in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
