The $1.5 million Marshlands Bridge at Barambah Creek – officially opened by the South Burnett Regional Council in May last year – will be closed for three days this week for repairs.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Council advised the bridge, on Silverleaf Road, would be closed from 7:00am on Wednesday to 7:00am on Friday 31 to allow contractors to undertake repairs of concrete fixings in the bridge’s deck.<\/p>\n

The original contractors have been called back to make the repairs after routine Council checks.<\/p>\n

In January 2016, Council was awarded $800,000 towards the replacement of the old wooden Marshlands Bridge in Round 2 of the Federal Government\u2019s \u201cBridges To Recovery\u201d grants program.<\/p>\n

Council supplied the rest of the funding, and work on the new dual-lane concrete structure began in January 2017.<\/p>\n

Runoff from ex-Cyclone Debbie flooded the construction site in mid-April last year, but at the time Council said the new bridge had suffered no damage from the incident.<\/p>\n

It was finally opened to traffic on May 5, 2017.<\/p>\n

During the latest repair work, detours will be available via Campbells Road, Mondure Wheatlands Road and McConnell Way. <\/strong><\/p>\n

“Residents and road users are also advised that alternate routes to and from Hivesville and Proston are available via Wondai Proston Road,” a Council spokersperson said.<\/p>\n

“Council is aware of the inconvenience this road closure causes, and would like to thank residents and road users in advance for their patience and co-operation.<\/p>\n
