A six-month effort to widen and overlay a 1.2km section of Wattle Camp Road at Wattle Camp may finally be drawing to a close.<\/p>\n

The project, which began in January this year, was derailed in March when workers stumbled over a colony of microbats.<\/p>\n

The discovery led to a month’s delay while Council sought the necessary permissions to relocate the bats.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Roads portfolio chair Cr Gavin Jones reported Council now planned to tackle to final 500m of the project in July and August.<\/p>\n

Staff would also continue working on the realignment of the Memerambi-Barkers Creek Road, a construction project begun in May.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, maintenance crews will be carrying out maintenance grades this month on Neale Road at Haly Creek; East Wooroolin and West Wooroolin roads at Wooroolin; Walkers Road at Ballogie; the northern section of Old Wondai Road; and McAllisters Road at Cushnie.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The will also carry out drainage work on Old Esk North Road at Nanango, complete the resheeting of Coverty Road and carry out shoulder resheeting on the Brooklands Pimpimbudgee Road.<\/p>\n

Work on the new roundabout at the entrance to Kingaroy’s Rogers Drive would also continue.<\/p>\n

Cr Jones said earthworks for the new roundabout were largely complete, and a detour into Rogers Drive would allow gravel pavement and concrete construction to get under way.<\/p>\n

Last month, work crews carried out grader maintenance on Ushers, Barrons and Woodalls roads near Kingaroy; Nukku Road at Googa; Meehans and Wilsons roads at Memerambi; Benair Road at Inverlaw; Lawson Broad and Wolff roads at Coverty; Denmarks Road near Tingoora; and McIllhatton Road near Sandy Ridges.<\/p>\n
