Kingaroy Art Gallery’s latest exhibitions feature the whimsical, the colourful and the deeply personal.<\/p>\n

The gallery’s August exhibitions were officially opened on Friday evening with a wine and cheese night.<\/p>\n

In the main gallery, emerging artist Peter Breen is exploring his life in a series of works on old encyclopaedia pages which belonged to his late mother-in-law.\u00a0 Peter, who worked as a radiographer at Kingaroy Hospital from 1978-82, was last in Kingaroy as a judge at the inaugural David Bryce Rural Art Award in April this year.<\/p>\n

His collection of 30 works on ripped out pages, “Against the Flow of My Constructed Self”, includes sketches of fellow train commuters in Brisbane and glimpses of County Kerry from a trip to Ireland.<\/p>\n

Tingoora artist Robyn Dower’s exhibition in Gallery 2, “A Little Left Of Centre”, is a whimsical and good-humoured collection of paintings and papier-m\u00e2ch\u00e9 sculptures which is sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face.<\/p>\n

In Gallery 3, Hivesville artist Lesley Ann Fewtrell has brought along photographs, paintings and colourful leadlight mosaics made of glass, pottery and metal.<\/p>\n

The three exhibitions will remain on display at the gallery throughout August.\u00a0Entry is free.<\/p>\n
