Julie Robinson, Lynnelle Cross, Nancy Cross, Helen Greenslade, Jodi Northcott and Vicki Rossi &#8230; the best dressed team<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_215393\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-215393\" style=\"width: 290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180804brain2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-215393 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180804brain2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"290\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180804brain2.jpg 290w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180804brain2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180804brain2-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 290px) 100vw, 290px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-215393\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Damien Martoo posed the biting questions<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>August 12, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Organisers of the Kumbia State School P&amp;C&#8217;s annual brain drain are smiling after raising another $10,000 for the school at their recent night of fun.<\/p>\n<p>James Curtain, the chairman of the Brain Drain sub-committee, said it had been a terrific evening.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There were 28 tables &#8211; the same as last year &#8211; although were were a bit worried for a while as early bookings were slow,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But we brought in $10,000 again which is a great result for the school.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After considering feedback from previous years, the evening wound up a bit earlier but no one seemed to mind.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Damien Martoo, from the Martoo Review, reprised his role as quizmaster, this time with a monster shark theme.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It was fitting, then, that all the Kumbia P&amp;C volunteers on the night were dressed as lifesavers &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The theme for the 25th annual Kumbia Brain Drain was &#8220;Straya \u2013 1993 to 2018&#8221; which was interpreted in many ways by the revellers.<\/p>\n<p>There were Vegemite jars, cricketers, XXXX cans and quite a few bogans and bushmen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There was even a table full of Dame Ednas! In fact, the &#8220;Hello Possum&#8221; team won the prize for the Best-Dressed Team.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The prize for the best-named team went to the politically incorrect, &#8220;There&#8217;s No Sticky Near My Dicky&#8221; (a bunch of flannelled funsters &#8220;sponsored&#8221; by Kool Mints and 3M sandpaper &#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>The overall winning team on the night &#8211; for getting the most correct answers &#8211; was the &#8220;Wolf Creek Survivors&#8221;, who picked up a narrow victory with 67 points.<\/p>\n<p>James said the feedback from the night had been very good.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had great support from our sponsor and we had something for almost everyone,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>James said the committee had already started thinking about next year&#8217;s event, although a theme had not been selected yet.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are starting to look at getting a major sponsor so we could put up a strong cash prize,&#8221; he
