Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington has thrown her support behind the South Burnett\u00a0Community Orchestra following a recent break-in which resulted in the theft of some of their musical equipment.<\/p>\n

About five weeks ago, thieves broke into a locked storage area the orchestra rents from the Uniting Church in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Two electric pianos, a piano speaker, two brand new foldback speakers and a number of cords and cables were stolen.<\/p>\n

The total value of the items stolen was more than $4000.<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington said the loss\u00a0of equipment has had a significant impact on the group.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI was really disappointed to hear about the break-in and that so much equipment had been\u00a0stolen,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Orchestra has been working hard for their Armistice Centenary Commemoration Gala\u00a0Charity Dinner Concert on November 10 and without some of this equipment, it has been a real setback.”<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington presented SBCO president Jane Kennedy with a $200 “Local Hero” cheque to help kick-off the fundraising.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted\u00a0to show my support and make a donation to help them kick off a fundraising effort to get back\u00a0on their feet,” she said.<\/p>\n

The SBCO has also organised a “beat the thief” fundraiser at their Christmas At Cassis event on December 15.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have so many events planned for the next few months, but we are working hard to try and\u00a0make sure this equipment loss doesn\u2019t have any affect the quality of our performances,\u201d Jane
\nsaid.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s made us more determined than ever and our \u2018beat the thief\u2019 event is a way of showing our\u00a0determination to carry on.\u201d<\/p>\n
