Woolworths supermarkets are supporting the Buy A Bale campaign<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

All profits from sales in the fresh department at Woolworths supermarkets across Australia on Saturday will be donated to Rural Aid\u2019s Buy a Bale appeal.<\/p>\n

This means all profits from sales of fruit and vegies, meat, the chilled section, bakery and deli at Woolworths Kingaroy this Saturday will help support farmers affected by the drought.<\/p>\n

The move follows an initial $1.5 million donation by Woolworths.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Australian farming community is a resilient one, but there is an urgent need for ongoing support for farmers who continue to do it tough during this drought,” Rural Aid CEO Charles Alder said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been overwhelmed by the response of the Woolworths store teams and customers over the past week.<\/p>\n

“Since the supermarket came on board as a partner with their initial $1.5 million donation and opened up fundraising channels in their stores, we\u2019ve been able to provide more certainty to hundreds of farmers who have reached out to us in urgent need of feed for their livestock.<\/p>\n

“Additionally we\u2019ve been able to increase vital counselling services available for farming families in regional communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

General Manager of Operations for Woolworths in Queensland, Matthew Franich said that in less than a week, Woolworths customers nationally had donated more than $600,000 to\u00a0Rural Aid\u2019s Buy a Bale appeal at checkouts.<\/p>\n

All donations over $2 are tax deductible and 100 per cent of the funds go to Rural Aid.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
