The South Burnett Regional Council will receive funding to develop a regional Water and Wastewater Strategy under Round 2 of the State Government’s\u00a0Maturing the Infrastructure Pipeline Program.<\/p>\n

Under the same program:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council will develop a feasibility study on the redevelopment of the Council administration building,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Gympie Regional Council will undertake an infrastructure needs analysis for the proposed Gympie Gateway Employment Hub,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • North Burnett Regional Council will develop a business case for the proposed replacement of the Biggenden Water Treatment Plant, and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • Toowoomba Regional Council will receive $500,000 to prepare a business case for a proposed Toowoomba Regional Sports Precinct.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          State Development Minister Cameron Dick said the funding was to turn “promising ideas” into solid proposals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

          A total of $22 million was being distributed in this round to councils across Queensland.<\/p>\n

          \n

          The competitive grant program was open to all councils.<\/p>\n

          Funds have been allocated to 70 projects across 67 councils.<\/p>\n

          \u201cThe interest from councils in the program has been significant,\u201d Mr Dick said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

          \u201cFor the local communities this means building strong local governments with vital investment in early stage planning for projects.\u201d<\/p>\n

          Local Government Association of Queensland chief executive Greg Hallam said the program helped councils deliver infrastructure their communities had identified as important.<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \u201cThe Maturing the Infrastructure Pipeline Program helps get these vital local infrastructure projects moving,\u201d Mr Hallam said.<\/p>\n

          The program does not commit the State Government to provide funding for the actual delivery of the projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
