Police are investigating a string of suspicious fires which occurred at the weekend near Kelvyn Street and Oasis Drive in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Firefighters were initially called to multiple fires burning in long grass in the empty paddock behind homes about 8:00pm on Friday.<\/p>\n

The flames were safely extinguished and fire crews left the scene.<\/p>\n

However, about 9:40pm a new fire broke out in a gully alongside Kelvyn Street, a short distance from the previous fires.<\/p>\n

southburnett.com.au spotted this and called emergency services, who returned to the scene to extinguish the flames.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fire brigade was then called back out to Kelvyn Street a third time on Friday night when another fresh fire started.<\/p>\n

On Saturday night, firefighters were back in action again in Kelvyn Street.<\/p>\n

Crews conducted backburning about 11:20pm to help make the area safe.<\/p>\n

Then on Sunday night, reports of a fire in Oasis Drive – which runs off Kelvyn Street – had fire crews back to the paddock at 9:45pm.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant David Tierney, confirmed police were investigating the suspicious blazes and had conducted patrols in the area.<\/p>\n

UPDATE:\u00a0\u00a0QFES conduced a hazard reduction burn in the Kelvyn Street and Oasis Drive area on Monday night.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Firefighters have extinguished a spectacular grass fire burning in the empty paddock behind the Oasis housing estate in Kingaroy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fire, burning in long grass adjacent to Kelvyn Street, broke out just after 8:00pm on Friday and consumed about an acre of land.<\/p>\n

No houses were under threat.<\/p>\n

Six fire vehicles – including Kingaroy urban units and Stuart River Rural Fire Brigade – attended.<\/p>\n

There was initial concern as the flames were burning close to power lines which cross the paddock, however firefighters quickly contained the incident.<\/p>\n

The fire was extinguished by about 8:30pm.<\/p>\n

UPDATE: Firefighters were called back to the incident about 9:40pm.<\/b><\/p>\n
