Not-for-profit groups in Yarraman and Cooyar have just a day left to apply for funding under Round 1 of Toowoomba Regional Council’s community grants scheme.<\/p>\n

Applications close on Wednesday (August 1).<\/p>\n

Environment and Community Committee chair Cr Geoff McDonald said the current funding program covered applications for the Sport and Recreation, Event Support, Community Support, Community Economic Development, Environment, Cultural and Arts Support, and Sports Tourism.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the first round of community grants funding for the financial year.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

“The next funding round will open on February 1, 2019.”<\/p>\n

Mayor Paul Antonio said the Community Economic Development Grants would be capped at $5000 for each application, with a yearly limit of two grants per applicant.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil is determined to support our Chambers of Commerce, Progress Associations and other not-for-profit groups who meet the selection criteria for the economic grants,\u201d Mayor Antonio said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis funding is aimed at building the capacity of regional groups who are delivering specific programs to attract or boost employment or who are undertaking projects in their towns and districts.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil envisages that these grants will support the implementation of the Toowoomba Region Economic Development Strategy, and township economic development plans like the Community Growth Action Plans.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
