South Burnett entrants have excelled in the first stage of the inaugural Limousin Blockbuster hoof and hook competition, judged at the Beaudesert Saleyards last week.<\/p>\n

Corey Evans, from Jen-Daview Limousin Stud in Kingaroy, was awarded the Grand Champion hoof exhibit with a 15-month-old steer sired by Jen-Daview King George.<\/p>\n

The steer weighed in at 482kg after spending 100 days at a feedlot near Warwick.<\/p>\n

Graeme Wicks, from Hillsborough Limousins at Tingoora, took the Reserve Champion title with a 594kg steer.<\/p>\n

Other South Burnett entries to do well included Kingaroy State High School, which won Class 4 Steers (370-470kg); and Megan and Jason Livingstone, from Maidenwell, who took first place in Class 3 Heifers (370-470kg).<\/p>\n

Brad and Jodie Frohloff, from Yarraman, came second in Class 3 Heifers (370-470kg) while Midge and Reg Thompson, from Nanango, were runners-up in Class 5 Heifers (above 470kg).<\/p>\n

There were more than 100 Limousin and Limousin-x entries in the competition.<\/p>\n

The hook section of the competition will be judged at Teys Australia’s Beenleigh abattoir and winners will be announced on July 22.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
