A 48-year-old man has been flown to hospital after being trapped for about two hours in the cabin of his over-turned semi-trailer on Sunday night on Kilkivan-Tansey Road.<\/p>\n

Police were called to the crash site about 11:30pm.<\/p>\n

The truck was heading towards Kilkivan when the incident occurred.<\/p>\n

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was despatched to the scene just after midnight and landed on the roadway.<\/p>\n

The helicopter’s medical team, consisting of a QAS Flight critical care paramedic and LifeFlight critical care doctor, helped local emergency services to free the trapped driver.<\/p>\n

Firefighters used cutting tools to free the man, who was trapped by his legs in the wreck.<\/p>\n

He was then airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries.<\/p>\n

Editor’s note:<\/strong> Kilkivan-Tansey Road was one of the roads named in a recent RACQ survey of the worst roads in Queensland. At the last State election, the LNP promised to spend $4.5 million to widen and seal single-lane sections of the road, which is a major link between the Burnett Highway and the Wide Bay Highway.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
