LifeFlight flew almost 5500 lifesaving missions in Queensland over the past 12 months, including 574 by the Toowoomba-based helicopter.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson said the Toowoomba flights alone cost the organisation about $7.1 million.<\/p>\n

Last financial year was LifeFlight’s busiest in its 37-year history, with its doctors, community rescue helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5452 missions.<\/p>\n

These missions brought the service’s total number of patients helped to more than 50,000 since its first airlift in 1981.<\/p>\n

During the 2017-2018 financial year, LifeFlight helicopters completed 1819 community-based missions throughout Queensland.<\/p>\n

The top five mission types for the Toowoomba chopper were: Motor vehicle and motorcycle accidents (60), cardiac conditions (58), infection \/ serious illness (52), respiratory conditions (39) and abdominal conditions (35).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
