The RACQ claims fuel retailers are ripping off Queensland drivers with diesel prices, but it looks like Kingaroy drivers are doing better than Brisbane.<\/p>\n

The motoring body’s latest survey shows retail margins on diesel fuel have jumped 40 per cent in just two months.<\/p>\n

RACQ spokesperson Lucinda Ross said the RACQ’s June fuel price report revealed the average cost of diesel in Brisbane was 4.2 cents per litre (cpl) higher than in May.<\/p>\n

The average cost in Brisbane was 156.5cpl, compared with 154.8cpl in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

However, Kingaroy prices had also risen from May … by 3.5cpl.<\/p>\n

Ms Ross said that even with instability in the global oil price, there was “no good reason” for high diesel prices.<\/p>\n

“Our data shows regional motorists also copped a hike of 4.2cpl in the average diesel price compared with last month,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The report revealed Biloela drivers paid the most in the State for diesel, with drivers slugged an average 159.7cpl.<\/p>\n

Mt Isa had the cheapest diesel in Queensland: 149.2cpl. <\/p>\n

Of the 34 regional centres monitored by RACQ, 28 were cheaper than Brisbane: Mt Isa, Gympie, Roma, Miles, Moranbah, Maryborough, Gladstone, Ingham, Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg, Warwick, Whitsunday, Goondiwindi, Childers, Mareeba, Emerald, Toowoomba, Hervey Bay, Gold Coast, Blackwater, Kingaroy, Townsville, Cairns, Mackay, Dalby, Longreach, Bowen and Rockhampton.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no reason for prices to be this high so we\u2019d urge drivers to only fill up at servos offering fair prices and shun the retailers ripping us off,\u201d Ms Ross said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
