The Kingaroy Chamber Of Commerce and Industry has received a $33,000 grant from the Federal Government to put towards the cost of Kingaroy’s upcoming BaconFest.<\/p>\n

It’s a bonus for the festival which has already secured $25,000 sponsorship from Sunpork Fresh Foods, $10,000 from Stanwell Meandu Mine, and $5000 from the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

Almost $10,000 from other smaller sponsors are also listed on the festival’s website.<\/p>\n

BaconFest will be held from August 24-26 in Kingaroy and will feature a number of special events, including a formal Wine and Swine Cocktail Party, a Long Table Breakfast, a pin-up pageant, barbecue competition and a series of other pork or bacon-themed events.<\/p>\n

The festival’s latest grant, announced on Wednesday, is one of 109 projects around Australia being funded under the Community Investment stream of the Building Better Regions fund.<\/p>\n

Regional Development Minister John McVeigh said the Community Investment stream was about ensuring regional communities had a strong future.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The Community Investment stream targets community activities from expanded local events and strategic planning, to leadership and capability building to better map out the ongoing prosperity of our regions,” Dr McVeigh said.<\/p>\n

Dr McVeigh said the projects funded in the latest round were selected from more than 270 applications.<\/p>\n

Successful projects under Round 2 of the Building Better Regions Fund – Infrastructure Projects stream will be announced shortly.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The South Burnett Regional Council has applied for $2 million towards Kingaroy’s CBD upgrade under the Infrastructure Projects stream.<\/p>\n

Dr McVeigh said the government had committed a further $200 million in the 2018-19 Federal Budget to deliver a third round of the Building Better Regions fund.<\/p>\n

Applications for Round 3 are expected to open in coming months.<\/p>\n
