Applications are now open for the Gambling Community Benefit Fund’s special $1.25 million Commemorative Grants which will celebrate the fund\u2019s 25th anniversary in 2019.<\/p>\n

Ten grants of up to $100,000, and one grant up to $250,000 are available for eligible not-for-profits groups.<\/p>\n

Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath\u00a0encouraged community groups across all sectors to submit an appliacation.<\/p>\n

\u201cExpressions of interest for these grants are now open until August 31,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The Commemorative Grants are being offered in addition to the regular quarterly funding rounds, which provide up to $35,000 per successful application.<\/p>\n

Ms D’Ath said a new committee has been appointed to provide advice on applications for the Gambling Community Benefit Funds grants program, which distributes about $54 million per year to not-for-profit community groups.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The new members have been appointed to serve a five-year term.<\/p>\n

The new committee consists of: Chairman Alan Sparks (CEO, East Coast Apprenticeships) and committee members Phillip Bell (CEO, Ipswich Hospital Foundation), Tony Condon (Qld Hotels Association), John Corry (Charitable Games, Tabcorp), Andrew Costello (Casinos Austria International\/Accor Asia Pacific), Henrietta Marrie AM (CQ University Associate Professor and Yidinji Elder), Jan Pool (Pacific Marine), Sarah Ramsay (KPMG), Michael Sarquis (Executive Director, Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation), Alison Smith (Star Entertainment Group), Georgia Soutar (Macdonald Law) and Julie Strudwick (Construction Skills Qld).<\/p>\n

\u201cThe independent committee includes representatives with relevant experience, knowledge and skills, and also reflects the diversity of the Queensland community,” Ms D’Ath said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese members play a vital role in assessing the suitability of applications in a fair and equitable manner, collectively assisting to best direct funds to maximise community benefit.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
