Tickets for various events being held during the inaugural SunPork Fresh Foods BaconFest in August have now gone on sale.<\/p>\n

The Oztix website is offering tickets for the formal Wine and Swine Cocktail Party, which will be held in the Kingaroy Town Hall Forecourt on August 24; the live concert by The Porkers on August 25; and the Long Table Breakfast in Glendon Street on August 26.<\/p>\n

The Wine and Swine\u00a0Cocktail Party will be an opportunity to dress to impress and dance the night away to Irish folk band, Murphy\u2019s\u00a0Pigs. Catering will be by The Saucy Fork and will feature local wines and the best of South Burnett produce.<\/p>\n

The Porkers, who will be live in concert at the Kingaroy Town Hall, are a Newcastle band who play a fusion of ska and punk rock. They’ve toured Germany, Japan, New Zealand and the United States and had hits on Triple J. They’ll be supported by rockabilly band Cherry Devine.<\/p>\n

The Long Table Breakfast promises to be a stylish Sunday morning event. It will be catered for by top Hervey Bay chef Dan Mulheron. Dan and his wife Steph won Channel 7’s “My Kitchen Rules” in 2013.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re confident the alluring aroma of frying bacon has the power to bring thousands of new people to this colourful corner of South-East Queensland,\u201d BaconFest organising committee member and “chief baconeer” Kathryn Stevens said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled that Australian pork producer and supplier SunPork Fresh Foods is our naming rights sponsor in 2018. The company\u2019s backing, support and enthusiasm has been invaluable in making the BaconFest vision a reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kathryn said the festival\u2019s centrepiece would be a two-day food market featuring specialist food trucks from south-east Queensland.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019ll be slow-roasted pulled pork, smoked barbecue ribs, deep fried pork, pork knuckles, pork belly, pork curries, pork jerky and a variety of paddock-to-plate producers selling delicious pork and bacon products,\u201d Kathryn said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of the more creative items proposed for sale include panna cotta with a bacon crumb and candied maple bacon, bacon cronuts, chocolate bacon cupcakes and even bacon ice cream!\u201d<\/p>\n

Entry to the market will be by a gold coin donation.<\/p>\n

There will also be plenty of activities including a bacon-eating competition and the Miss BaconFest pin-up pageant conducted by Bettie Butcher.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Food Ambassador Jason Ford will be doing cooking demonstrations using local produce and SunPork Fresh Foods will conduct master classes on smoking and curing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Throughout the weekend festivalgoers can also attend a Kevin Bacon Film Festival, the free “Rasher\u2019s Rush” cycling and running event along the South Burnett Rail Trail, and a “Little Piggies in the Park” event for kids under 12 years.<\/p>\n

Kathryn said the “crackling on the cake” would be the Australasian BBQ Alliance-sanctioned “SunPork Smoke-off” competition with up to 20 teams battling it out for top honours in a 24-hour cooking contest.<\/p>\n

The competition will be an official round of the Barbeques Galore National Barbecue Championship Series.<\/p>\n
