The South Burnett Regional Council is getting ready to welcome its new Chief Executive Officer.<\/p>\n

Former North Burnett CEO Mark Pitt will be joining the Council next Monday (June 18).<\/p>\n

Mr Pitt was one of three candidates short-listed to fill the position following an extensive three-month search to find a replacement for current CEO Gary Wall, who will be stepping down in early July.<\/p>\n

Mr Pitt will be working in tandem with Mr Wall for his first two weeks on the job, meeting councillors and staff and being briefed on current projects.<\/p>\n

After this, Mr Wall will transfer his powers to Mr Pitt on Monday, July 2, before retiring on July 5 after a 47-year career with the former Kingaroy Shire Council, and then the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

At Wednesday’s monthly meeting, Councillors began preparing for Mr Pitt’s arrival by formally confirming his appointment as CEO.<\/strong><\/p>\n

They also appointed Mr Pitt to act as a director and company secretary of the South Burnett Community Hospital Foundation, the not-for-profit group that owns the hospital and oversees fundraising for it.<\/p>\n

Under the Foundation’s Constitution, the hospital’s board consists of nine directors, two of whom must be elected members of Council and one of whom must be a Council employee who also acts as company secretary.<\/p>\n

Mr Wall’s last major official task will be to oversee the introduction of the Council’s 2018-2019 Budget, which will be handed down on Monday, June 25.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
